On Thursday night, ESSA finished the year in style by celebrating all that ESSA has achieved in 2012 with ESSA Year in Review and the inaugural launch of our print publication Equilibrium.

The night began with out-going President Karen Lee looking back on ESSA’s journey from an idea in her first year to a thriving society at the end of her time at university. Karen looked back across ESSA’s achievements in its first year; Trivia with Economics Alumni, Q&A, our Website Re-launch and of course the inaugural edition of Equilibrium.

Prof Nilss Olekalns, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, then launched ESSA’s inaugural print publication Equilibrium, highlighting the importance of student societies and the hard work that had gone into the publication. Equilibrium’s Editors Alice He and Sharon Lai also thanked all the committee members who contributed content and helped with the coordination of Equilibrium. Keep an eye out for a downloadable version of Equilibrium over the coming weeks.

Our new President Dean Pagonis closed the event thanking Karen for all her hard work over the past two years and outlining his vision for next year. Dean also introduced us to the President of the newly formed ESSA Monash, Matthew Vethecan, with ESSA extending to Monash next year, 2013 can only get better.

Congratulations to Sharon and Alice for their fantastic work producing such a quality publication. What a great way to end ESSA’s first year! Next year, we will be bringing more great events so don’t forget to renew your membership.
