Dear ESSA members,
We have some exciting news for you!
ESSA is pushing the boundaries beyond the walls of the University of Melbourne and into Monash University! Early this semester a team of passionate economics students from Monash, Matthew Vethecan, Sam Kothari and Jake Patela, approached us and have taken up the challenge of bringing ESSA to Monash! Their passion for economics and the broader public policy debate is indisputable and we’re extremely excited to be working with them on this project!
This expansion has fostered much enthusiasm amongst the ESSA offices, as there exists new opportunities to promote economics. Showcase events, such as ESSA Q&A, will now be bigger and better. There will also be more scope for a broader range of speakers to take part in the ESSA lecture series. But in some ways, these aforementioned avenues for growth are secondary to the exciting new events planned for 2013. But we’ll just have to keep a lid on that for now . . .
We would also like to make a clarion call to all Monash University students. If you are interested in economics, and would like to be part of a team of young individuals, who are committed to providing the point of difference in the university experience, check out our recruitment page – there’s bound to be a position that will take your fancy. Recruitment will only remain open until Tuesday 9th October 2012, so get your applications in quickly.
Once again, we thank all our members for making 2012 the great year that it was. With ESSA extending to Monash next year, 2013 can only get better.
Don’t forget to come to our Year in Review on the 4th of October 5.30pm at the Alan Gilbert Executive Lounge at Melbourne University, where we will be unveiling our inaugural Equilibrium publication and officially announcing our expansion into Monash! It promises to be a great night with lots of free food and drinks! Eat and drink to your heart’s content!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Your ESSA Committee
